BenQ has launched its newest monitor for photographers and video artists, the SW2700PT, and it's built for color precision full with image enhancing features in order to satisfy professionals.

The 27in monitor comes feature-packed with a 27”QHD (2560x1440) display, 99% Adobe RGB color space, IPS technology, hardware calibration, 14bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT), Delta E≤2, Palette Master calibration software, ambient light-blocking shading hood, OSD controller and Black-and-White Mode.

Featuring the Adobe RGB color space, the new monitor will be able to display larger range in shades of blue and green, being thus perfect for nature photography. The 14bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT) will enhance its RGB color blending accuracy for good color reproduction, while the truest view of the original image is given by the Delta E≤2 in both Adobe RGB and sRGB color spaces.

The 14bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT) can be hardware calibrated directly to project a photo in its most natural and original colors. The new monitor also has the Palette Master calibration software which can be used as a calibrator to optimize the color performance of the display. Datacolor and X-rite calibration utilities are also compatible with the SW2700PT.

Excellent for professionals, but good alternatives are already available

Being 77% larger than a standard Full HD display, the new monitor will have more access to the picture they're seeing and able to access all the details required for them to edit. However, on the main intriguing features of this monitor is the detachable hood. This will make this screen highly valuable on the field, especially during shooting sessions of films or photographs blocking annoying sunlight that might distort photos.

Nonetheless, comparing this device at a first glance with the BL series also from BenQ, we can see that the 4K solution, the BenQ BL3201PT, comes in a much larger form factor at 32", and during our preview we were impressed by its excellent chromatics, full sRGB color space and excellent build design.

We are glad to see that both share the same puck-like OSD controller to enhance OSD, with the SW2700PT having the extra of Black-and-White Mode for a dedicated black and white dedicated editing.

Prices are still unknown, but BenQ announced that would make the new monitor available in America, Europe and Asia Pacific in July, 2015.
