It seems that Minecraft might still get a version for the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld from Nintendo, despite the fact that many fans have given up hope that the title will expand to more devices in the future.

According to MCV, the chief operations officer at Mojang believes that the indie game should be offered on as many platforms as possible and that the devs should allow all players to connect their games with friends regardless of the device they use.

He states, "We want to continue to be available to all players, and that means being on new platforms because everyone uses something different."

When it comes to the Wii U and the 3DS, the executive says that the move has not happened yet but suggests that there is no reason not to deliver Minecraft on the Wii U or the 3DS in the future.

About two years ago, rumors talked about the fact that 4J Studios, who is bringing the title to home consoles, had development kits from Nintendo, but no announcement has been made since then.

It might be harder to create Wii U and 3DS versions of the title or the company might simply be waiting for a good moment to launch the new games.

Minecraft is thriving on PC and coming to Windows 10

One of the biggest announcements made during Minecon 2015 was that a new edition of the title was being created for the coming operating system from Microsoft and would be offered on July 29 in the official store, free for those who already own the game.

The Windows 10 version is based on the Pocket edition of the game and it seems that Mojang has big long-term plans to allow all gamers to interact with the entire community, regardless of the device they are playing on.

Since Microsoft bought Mojang and the rights to Minecraft, the company has not interfered in any way with the development process and has not limited the potential of versions of the game offered on the PC or PlayStation platforms.

At the moment, the game is getting regular updates on all devices and new content packs that are based on the demands of the player community.

Microsoft has created a truly impressive HoloLens demo that uses Minecraft, which suggests the title will play a major role in the launch of the augmented reality device.
