The development team at Mojang is using the Minecon 2015 event in London to announce some of the features that it plans to add to indie hit Minecraft in the coming months, all of them designed to expand the kind of experiences that gamers can explore and create.

Dual wielding might be the biggest new mechanics, with characters able to use their weaker hand to hold items, including torches and shields, which will be added to the inventory in a coming update to offer more defensive options.

For gamers who want to use archery to battle enemies, Mojang plans to introduce enchanted arrows, although details about the way they can be used are not offered at the moment because more balancing is required.

Minecraft will include poison, glow and spectral missiles and each of them will have clear uses although none will be overpowered.

The game will also include a new buff bar at the top of the user interface and the development team says that more usability changes are being explored to make sure that the title appeals to as many gamers as possible.

Minecraft will expand The End

Mojang also says that it will introduce a set of chances to The End, which is becoming a fully fledged area with a variety of island locations and more items that gamers can find and more mechanics that can be used for exploration.

Conventional ladders will be featured, but the team also wants gamers to use their acrobatic move sets to reach some areas.

A new Shullker enemy is also being introduced to the game, who will shoot special projectiles that gamers can use to levitate, which will help them reach some locations that are otherwise

The Ender Dragon is also being buffed in an update in order to make it more similar in terms of challenge level to the version featured at the moment on home consoles.

At the moment, the studio is not saying exactly when the major changes will be delivered to the game.

During Minecon 2015 Mojang and Telltale Games also officially launched the first trailer for Minecraft: The Story, which will arrive in 2015 and will feature Patton Oswald voicing the main character.
