Video game development teams at Telltale Games and Mojang are ready to deliver the first consistent details about the coming Story Mode experience associated with Minecraft, which received its first full trailer during the recent Minecon 2015 event in London.

The footage is certainly interesting, although limited game mechanics is shown, but the biggest reveal is that the main character is called Jesse and that he will be portrayed by actor Patton Oswalt, well known for his connections with the geek space.

Telltale Games says that Jesse and his friends are follow the Order of the Stone, who are four adventurers that took down an Ender Dragon and are the best in their fields, a Warrior, a Redstone Engineer, a Griefer, and an Architect.

The studio adds that the friends are taking part in EnderCon when they sense that something is wrong and that they need to find these perfect adventurers in order to save the world from destruction.

The voice cast of Minecraft: Story Mode will also include Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.

Apparently even more actors are involved in the project, and more announcements will arrive in the coming months.

Minecraft: Story Mode will be both original and true to the Mojang franchise

Kevin Bruner, the chief executive officer and one of the co-founders of the company, says that his team has worked closely with those at Mojang to make sure that the game is very true to the core elements of the universe.

Owen Hill, chief word officer at Mojang, states, "They've crafted a story that follows the logic of Minecraft, but still manages to feel original. It's actually pretty funny too. And the pig is adorable. We're super excited about players digging deeper into the world of Minecraft: Story Mode later this year."

So far neither Telltale Games nor Mojang have said how many episodes the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode will have or when they plan to launch it, other than suggesting that it will be before the end of the year.

The game is an interesting project for both companies, considering that freeform creation and interaction and decision-based storytelling do not seem like they would mix well.
