Minecon 2015 brought lots of great announcement for Minecraft fans. Mojang announced Minecraft for Windows 10, which will be released on July 29, but also offered some details on the upcoming update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

Well-known game developer Telltale Games had an announcement of its own related to Minecraft. The studio confirmed a new game called Minecraft: Story Mode will be available to download later this year on PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and compatible iOS and Android-based devices. “We've worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love. As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast.

Through Telltale's choice-based gameplay and a story spanning from the Nether to the Farlands, the End, and beyond, we can't wait for fans to experience this new take on the beloved world of Minecraft,” said Kevin Bruner, CEO and co-founder of Telltale Games.

As many of you probably noticed by now, Minecraft: Story Mode will not be launched on Windows Phone, probably because Microsoft will release Windows 10 Mobile later this year and Telltale Games won't be able to make it available on this platform until later on.

Four adventurers set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone

In Minecraft: Story Mode, players will control protagonist Jesse throughout a series of episodes. Jesse will be portrayed by actor Patton Oswalt, but the cast will feature other actors as well, including Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.

Jesse and his friends set out on a journey to find the Order of the Stone, four adventurers who killed an Ender Dragon. There will be four classes included in the game: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer and Arhitect.

“The interactive storytellers at Telltale are giving players the chance to explore their own unique interpretation of the Minecraft universe. They've crafted a story that follows the logic of Minecraft, but still manages to feel original. It's actually pretty funny too. And the pig is adorable.

We're super excited about players digging deeper into the world of Minecraft: Story Mode later this year,” said Owen Hill, Chief Word Officer at Mojang.

A gameplay trailer has been released as well, but we expect more details on Minecraft: Story Mode to be shared closer to launch.
