“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” scheduled for release in 2017, went into principal photography a few days ago, but it’s been in production for longer than that. Almost 2 weeks ago, the production was shaken by a serious on-set accident involving Milla Jovovich’s leading stunt double, Olivia Jackson.

In a beautifully worded and very touching open letter posted to the actress’ Facebook, she asks for her fans to pray for Olivia.

The stuntwoman was injured during a stunt described by the press as relatively “easy,” which saw her riding a motorcycle in a straight line. However, she wasn’t wearing any protective gear because it would have been visible, and when a metal camera arm malfunctioned and didn’t go up as it should have, she crashed into it.

Olivia has suffered injuries to her face, left hand and shoulder from the impact, but she is in a stable condition. Milla describes her as a very talented and very strong woman, saying the fact that she survived the impact is testament to how strong she is.

She’s also asking her fans on Instagram to send good thoughts and prayers to Olivia, either using her social media account or any other means of contact made publicly available.

More recently, Olivia did stunt double work for Charlize Theron and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in this year’s critically acclaimed film “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” believed to be the final installment in the video game-inspired film franchise, is written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, and will see Milla reprise the beloved, zombie-fighting Alice character.
