The death of Floyd the husky still stings

Miley Cyrus is still not over the death of her 2-year-old husky Floyd, which died in early 2014 mauled by a coyote. Over the weekend, she pulled double duty on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live on NBC, as host and musical guest.

For the latter, she chose 2 songs from her recently released album, “Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz,” which she made available for free on the night she hosted the MTV Video Music Awards 2015.

“Karen Don’t Be Sad” went off without a glitch, but Miley got overly emotional during the live rendition of “I Had a Dream (The Twinkle Song),” which saw her on the piano, with a frame photo of herself and Floyd sitting on top of it.

From the first seconds of the performance, it became clear that she was having issues keeping her emotions in check, but she did a good job at it until the final verse. It was then that she let her tears flow free, obviously no longer caring if she cried on live TV.

Both performances are available in the videos embedded below, but they come with geographical restrictions. If you can’t see them, the third video below should compensate: it’s Miley’s opening monolog, which she turned into an ode to the biggest viral stars of the summer, including Kim Davis, Jared Fogle, Pizza Rat, Josh Duggar and the cast of the “Entourage” movie.
