Latest build reveals more info on Windows 10 SKU plans

The accidentally-released Windows 10 build 16212 comes with tons of new stuff, including here not only new features, but also information on Microsoft's long-term plans for the operating system.

The latest finding comes on the Windows 10 SKU front, as it seems that Microsoft is working on 3 new versions of Windows 10 that could be released when the Fall Creators Updates goes live later this year.

The three new versions are Windows 10 Pro for Advanced PCs, Windows 10 Pro N for Advanced PCs, and Windows Server 2016 Serverrdsh. Details are obviously missing on what each of these new SKUs is supposed to do, but it seems like they'd be offered in addition to the versions already available right now and which you can see in the table at the end of the article.

Non-consumer focus

Since two of them are variants of the Pro SKU, there's a good chance these new versions of Windows 10 are specifically built for enterprises, offering them more tools for managing apps and devices.

The N version, in particular, will target the European markets specifically, as it comes to comply with regulations on the Old Continent and allow customers to choose a series of apps, including those used for handling multimedia content. N versions of Windows 10 are already available, but it looks like Microsoft is trying to offer enterprises more options when it comes to the operating system.

And last but not least, Windows Server 2016 ServerRsdh is most likely an SKU aimed at servers configured with Remote Desktop Session Host, which play the role of servers allowing clients to connect and run the operating system in a virtualized environment.

Microsoft is yet to announce these new versions of Windows 10, but more evidence is likely to be included in the next build aimed at insiders which should go live this week.
