Microsoft has just rolled out an update for the mobile version of the Office productivity suite, so in case you're running Windows 10 Mobile on your devices, just go ahead and download it right away.

In case you're wondering what's new in this release, you're probably not aware that Microsoft no longer releases change logs for app updates unless there's something really worth mentioning. Otherwise, you get the update as it is, and this is exactly what is happening with this new Office version.

Obviously, everyone wants release notes in order to find out what's included in every single update, but Microsoft doesn't seem to change its mind and says that only enterprises might get such information sometime in the future.

In the meantime, users of Windows 10 Mobile should proceed to download this new version because it most likely includes bug fixes and performance improvements that are really worth having.

The cost of using Office

Office is offered free of charge on devices with displays of 10.1 inches or smaller, so phones running the productivity suite don't have to purchase it from the store. The same is the case with the upcoming Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which will be both announced at the #Windows10Devices event later today.

And the same pricing model is applied in the case of the Apple iPad Pro, which was recently presented by Apple and demoed by Microsoft itself.

Since it comes with a 12.9-inch, the iPad Pro doesn't get Office for free, so Apple customers need to purchase an Office 365 subscription to be able to open and edit documents on their devices. The cheapest Office 365 subscription is the Personal edition which costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year.

In the meantime, it's good to see Microsoft finally updating apps running on its platforms, so expect this update frenzy to continue for software developed to run on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.
