The new version brings performance improvements

Microsoft has just released an update for its own Facebook client for Windows Phone, but just like usual, the company hasn't provided any kind of information regarding the new features in this build.

Facebook hasn't developed its own official client that would run on Windows Phone, so Microsoft decided to take care of the matter on its own and provide users of its smartphone platform with an unofficial version of the app that works and feels pretty much like the real one.

And today, the version of this app has been pushed to 8.3.7.0, but as per Microsoft's recent strategy, no change log is available.

Performance improvements and bug fixes

Previously, we've heard from users that Facebook crashed on Windows Phone every once in a while for no clear reason, while others complained that the app was very slow at certain moments, especially when loading videos.

This update is expected to fix these problems, so performance improvements are very likely, and so are patches that would repair some of the bugs reported by users in the last months.

On the official listing of the app, Microsoft says that this version comes with deep linking improvements and bug fixes, so as you can see, no detailed information on what exactly the company has changed in this release.

Updating the Facebook app is vital for Microsoft, especially because there's no official client on the platform right now, but everyone expects this to change with the arrival of Windows 10 Mobile. The overhauled mobile platform boasts significantly increased developer appeal, especially thanks to support for the UWP (Universal Windows Platform), which allows the same app to run on PCs, tablets, and smartphones using pretty much the same code.

Until an official client arrives for Windows 10 Mobile, you can still use Microsoft's to stay in touch with friends, so go download Facebook for Windows Phone right now to see if there's any big change in this version.
