Microsoft unveiled today Xbox One X as the name of its next-generation Xbox gaming console during its press briefing at E3 2017, providing attendees with full technical specifications, features, and official launch details.

Initially codenamed as Project Scorpio, Xbox One X is now official and will be the successor to Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox One S gaming consoles that the Redmond company launched back in 2013 and 2016, respectively. Microsoft will officially launch Xbox One X later this year, on November 7, 2017.

"Lose yourself in worlds built for immersive true 4K gaming, where action is brought to life with 2160p frame buffers. Enjoy brilliant graphic details in lights, shadows, and reflections with High Dynamic Range and Wide Color Gamut. Experience premium audio that puts you in the center of 3D spatial sound."

Technical specifications of Xbox One X

During the Xbox press announcement, Microsoft has said that Xbox One X is the smallest, most powerful console they've ever made. And we can't argue with that because the gaming console boasts an Octa-core processor running at 1172 MHz with 12GB of GDDR5 RAM (9GB are dedicated to games for a smooth gameplay).

Xbox One X also features 6 teraflops of graphical power to provide gamers with a unique, true native 4K gameplay at 60fps. The gaming console will also allow for streaming and recording of game clips in 4K. As for the storage options, the basic model appears to come with no less than 1TB of disk space on it.

For maximum efficiency, the Xbox One X gaming console also features Liquid-cooled Vapor Chamber, HDR support, Dolby Atmos support, and a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive. Best of all, Xbox One X will be backward compatible with all games and accessories that you're currently playing/using on your Xbox One S and Xbox One.

It also appears that Xbox One X supports existing libraries of games that are backward compatible with the Xbox 360 gaming console, and provides visual improvements and faster load times to many Xbox One games on 1080p TVs. The company says that Xbox One X will launch along with 42 new games. Microsoft Xbox One X's price starts at $499 USD.
