Windows 8 was often referred to as a very confusing operating system, mostly because Microsoft removed the Start menu and the Start button and introduced a new Modern UI that was considered to be specifically aimed at touch-capable devices.

The company attempted to fix that in Windows 8.1 by introducing a new app providing help and tips on how to use the operating system, but in Windows 10, the company is going one step further and adds popup tips to make sure that everyone can get the most out of the new OS.

Joe Belfiore has announced today that Microsoft will start testing these tips in Windows 10 preview builds and has explained that the new feature should only display guidance on the new options included in the operating system, but because it’s still in its early days, it might also target some of the “stuff you know.”

It will also be included in Windows 10 RTM

Belfiore has added that Microsoft is working to correct the behavior of these tips and trying to make sure that in the final version of Windows 10 they will only display advice on the features that you don’t know and you didn’t use before.

“Hey insiders… our first-ever ‘soft landing’ popup tips are going to start showing up on PCs today. The tips are personal, service-driven & designed to skip stuff you already know. However, today/next few weeks, u may see tips for features you’ve already used. Don't worry it won’t work that way in final build. Enjoy!” Belfiore has posted.

Windows 10 will launch on July 29, so Microsoft is now giving the final touches to the operating system and implementing the last features that should help beginners and more experienced users alike discover the features that have been implemented.

Microsoft Edge, Cortana, multiple desktops, and the notification center are expected to be specifically targeted by these tips, so expect a bunch of popups to show up on your computers in the coming weeks.
