Long-time Microsoft watchers might already know Bryan Roper, as he’s undoubtedly one of the best presenters that took the stage at a Windows event in the last few years.

Roper, who is actually a product manager for the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft, appears to be one of those affected by the new round of layoffs taking place at the software giant, even though pretty much everyone loved his appearances during Microsoft’s latest tech conferences.

In a post on Twitter, Bryan revealed the sad and unexpected news, but without providing any other specifics on how come he ended up on the list of people being laid off by Microsoft.

“As one of the Microsoft folks impacted by layoffs today, my heart, ears, and network go out to anyone else impacted #staystrong #newhorizons,” he said.

Layoffs to be announced this week

Bryan is one of the Microsoft employees and presenters who really seemed to be super-excited with what the company was working on, and we can include here not only Windows 10 on PCs but also mobile.

Given the fact that interest in mobile seems to be decreasing even from Microsoft itself, people like Bryan restored everyone’s confidence that Windows phones still had a future, especially since he was always so joyful during his presentations.

As far as Microsoft’s new layoff round is concerned, the company is expected to announce full details later this week when it also shares the financial report for the latest quarter. Approximately 700 people from various divisions are expected to be let go, including mobile, because yes, Microsoft is cutting workforce in this particular unit with every occasion.

The community response when hearing that Bryan is leaving the company was huge, so it’s very clear that this was a bad call from whoever decided to let him go. If you’ve never watched Bryan on stage talking Windows, make sure you watch the video below to see his magic at work.

Be strong, Bryan, and best of luck in whatever you plan on doing next!
