The official rollout starts today for the first lucky users

Microsoft will kick off the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update rollout today, with the very first users to see the new OS version in Windows Update in just a few hours.

The Fall Creators Update comes with a long list of improvements for users who are still running the Creators Update, including the Fluent Design language in UWP apps, new Settings sections for features like Cortana, input improvements like a new Emoji panel and support for Emoji 5.0, browser enhancements and so many other goodies that make this update a must-have.

Even though the rollout begins in just a few hours, not all users are going to get the Fall Creators Update today, though it’s expected Microsoft will offer alternative solutions to those who don’t wait to wait any longer and update right away.

As it happened with the Creators Update when it became available in April this year, the rollout takes place in stages, which means that Microsoft ships the update to a number of systems at first, then collects feedback and telemetry to determine any potential issues (like compatibility problems with software and hardware) and then gives the go-ahead for another batch of systems when it makes sure a smooth update experience can be provided.

Additionally, however, the Update Assistant tool is also expected to receive an update today to support the Fall Creators Update, so this way, you’ll be able to deploy the new version without waiting for Microsoft to ship it to your system. This solution is typically aimed at more advanced users who know how to diagnose some bugs and can deal with compatibility issues.

New ISOs for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update are also likely to be released, and they will allow for a clean install should any users want to start from scratch with this particular version of the operating system.

Microsoft will provide full information on how to get the Fall Creators Update later today, but the safest way to get it is to wait to become available via Windows Update to make sure no compatibility issues are experienced.
