14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just announced that its Office universal apps would be ready this month and would debut together with Windows 10 on July 29, thus providing users installing its new operating system with a quick way to work and manage their documents.
Office universal apps were first presented by Microsoft in January at a dedicated Windows 10 event, but shortly after that, the company released the preview versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to let testers try them out and see how they work.
Mostly Windows versions of the mobile apps available on iPads and Android tablets, these Office universal apps are designed to be used on Windows 10 devices, including PCs, tablets, and smartphones, and will provide a similar feature lineup across all of them.

On July 29, these apps will get rid of the preview tag and launch in final form, with Microsoft promising to provide a stable and reliable experience that's similar to the one offered by the desktop productivity suite.
Anyone will be allowed to download Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote without paying a single cent, as they will all be available in the Windows Store (the new store to be included in Windows 10 and offered as a universal app across all devices too).
At the same time, Microsoft is also working at full speed on the desktop version of the new Office 2016, but information on this new version is somehow limited right now. The company already promised to bring it to the market later this year, and preview versions can already be downloaded by those who don't mind trying out pre-release software, but there's still no release date for the final product.
In the meantime, the free universal apps should be just fine for those who want basic document editing features in Windows 10, so starting July 29, look in the store to get them on your device too.
