Insiders might receive a new cumulative updates very soon

Microsoft launched Windows 10 build 14393.3 a couple of days ago to provide insiders with more fixes before the Anniversary Update goes live for everyone, and now it turns out that the company is working on another cumulative update that could see daylight in the coming week.

Windows 10 build 14393 is RTM for the Anniversary Update, but there still are minor things that need to be fixed before retail users receive it on August 2, so Microsoft isn’t releasing new builds, but cumulative updates that come to address these issues.

Windows 10 build 14393.5 has recently been spotted by BuildFeed, and it looks like there are big chances for this one to be next in the queue for insiders, with a release likely to take place next week. The Anniversary Update is projected to launch on August 2, so Microsoft still has approximately one more week to deliver testing builds to users and correct bugs insiders discover at the last minute.

No new features

If it does launch, Windows 10 build 14393.5 won’t bring any new features, but only bug fixes and performance improvements because this is now the focus ahead of the public launch.

Microsoft is hard at work to refine performance and repair the last bugs reported in build 14393, so new features won’t arrive until the company starts shipping builds that are part of the Redstone 2 wave of updates. According to people with knowledge of the matter, the second wave of Redstone updates is projected to land in spring 2017, but Microsoft will start shipping testing builds to insiders shortly after the Anniversary Update (also known as Redstone 1) goes live in early August.

Windows 10 build 14393.5 is likely to be pushed to the fast ring only (although, if everything goes smoothly, the slow ring might receive it as well), and it will be available on both PC and mobile when Microsoft pushes the red button.

Thanks for the tip, Steve!
