Redmond could copy Dell's Infinity Display tech

We're only a few days away from the public launch of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet, which is expected to be presented at the company's hardware event on October 6, and more information (which is yet to be confirmed, it's essential to remember this) reaches the web.

This time, W4Phub (via WinBeta) writes that Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 could come with a very thin bezel for its display, as the software giant wanted to adopt a design similar to Dell's so-called Infinity Display.

Dell's almost bezel-free display, which debuted on the XPS 13, is helpful not only in terms of design but also as far as ergonomics are concerned, with the device becoming easier to carry around.

In Microsoft's case, however, there's one big challenge that the company has to deal with when it comes to the super thin bezel for the Surface Pro 4 display.

Tablet mode

As you probably already know, the Surface was developed from the very beginning to double as a laptop, so while it's essentially a tablet, whenever you attach the magnetic keyboard, it becomes a truly powerful productivity machine that can be easily referred to as an ultrabook.

If Microsoft indeed goes for a very thin bezel for the Surface Pro 4, holding it in hand and using the device as a tablet might be harder than you think, so the company must find a way to prevent accidental taps on the screen, but also potential damages that the display might suffer because of simple hits.

Obviously, with the device just around the corner, Microsoft has probably already found a way to cope with these problems, so it'll be interesting to see how the Surface Pro 4 feels in hand with such a thin bezel.

But again, these details are yet to be confirmed by Microsoft, so let's just wait a few more days until the device sees daylight to find out how much is true and how much is fake.
