It looks like the Designer mouse, but with small refinements

Microsoft is expected to introduce the new Surface PC later this month, and rumor has it that the company will also debut a new keyboard and mouse that will ship with it, but also be sold separately.

After seeing the Surface Keyboard for the first time before its official release, photos published by the FCC provide us with an early glimpse into what the Surface Mouse might look like too when it launches later this month.

Specifically, the Surface Mouse you see here uses the same shade of gray as the leaked keyboard, which means that there are big chances for the all-in-one PC to be painted in the same color. This is a design that’s available across the entire Surface lineup, including on the Surface Book, and it’s very clear that Microsoft wants to use this as a distinctive feature of its devices.

But as far as the general look of the mouse is concerned, at first glance it seems to perfectly resemble the Designer Desktop mouse that Microsoft is already selling. It’s based on the same simplicity and shape, but instead of the Microsoft brand at the bottom side, it features a Microsoft logo that once again seems to be inspired from the Surface lineup.

The mouse will work with two AA batteries, and Microsoft says that it’ll have a battery life of 12 months. Since it’ll use Bluetooth to connect to the PC, it will offer support not only for the Surface AIO but also for pretty much any other device with Bluetooth, including Macs, PCs, laptops, and even Android and iOS phones and tablets.

Most likely, the Surface mice and keyboards will be sold separately too, but there are big chances to see them included in the box of the new PC. Microsoft is expected to hold a press conference later this month in New York, so we’ll find out more about this in just a few weeks.
