The Microsoft Band 2 will arrive later this year

Microsoft is already working on the second-generation Band, and Kevin Turner, Redmond’s Chief Operating Officer, confirmed this in a keynote at the Worldwide Partner Conference 2015, but no other details were provided on what could be the company’s second attempt at the wearable market.

A report posted by GdgtArena and coming from unknown sources (so take this with a pinch of salt until Microsoft actually confirms or denies the information) claims that the Redmond-based tech giant has stopped production of the first-generation Band in anticipation of the new model.

Once again, details are missing, but it appears that Microsoft has halted production of the Band to make room for the new model, whose production should start very soon. When all Microsoft stores and resellers run out of the current model, stocks won’t be replenished.

Already being tested across Europe

Previous reports on this indicated that the second-generation Microsoft Band was already being tested in Europe, so the Redmond-based tech giant might be planning to release the device worldwide from the very beginning and thus make it available to more potential buyers.

The first Band was only launched in the United States and in limited numbers, but following impressive sales of the initial volume, Microsoft decided to launch it in more countries and to boost production in order to keep up with demand.

Sales of the Band have until now been impressive, with Microsoft working to deliver firmware updates and add support for more activities every month. The latest firmware update, for instance, brought support for golf, and the second-generation Band is expected to support at least the same sports as its predecessor.

As you can see, only little is known right now about the new Band, so just take these details with a pinch of salt until we hear from Microsoft on this new project.
