Microsoft has released a new cumulative update to users enrolled in the Windows Insider program in anticipation of a public release that could take place in the coming weeks.

There is no KB page for cumulative update KB3216755, but at first glance, it seems to push Windows 10 version number to 14393.726.

This time, the same cumulative update is available for both PC and mobile, so if you’re an insider who is enrolled in the Release Preview ring, you should be able to download and install it on any device.

What’s also important to know is that this cumulative update does not bring any new features, but only bug fixes and performance improvements, and most likely, Microsoft just wants to determine whether users experience any bugs or issues during or after installation.

In the past, there were quite a lot of users whose computers were hit by various issues caused by cumulative updates, and most of them complained that patches didn’t even install. So what Microsoft is trying to do with this cumulative update first released to insiders is to determine if similar problems continue to be experienced or not.

No issue for the time being

For the moment, we’re not aware of any problems with Windows 10 cumulative update KB3216755, but keep in mind that rebooting your system is needed, so in case you’re running any critical process on the computer, save your work before starting the install.

As for the date when Microsoft will release the next cumulative update to users, nothing is known for the moment, as the company typically ships updates for Windows 10 systems (and the other Windows versions) on Patch Tuesday, which is the second Tuesday of each month. January 31 could also be the day when public users might receive a new cumulative update.

We’ll be keeping an eye out on reports to see if users experience any issue with this cumulative update, but in the meantime, Release Preview ring members should install it as soon as possible.
