The iPhone X is now being shipped to the first Apple customers who pre-ordered the device on October 27, but as Apple itself confirmed with its own Store app, every iOS app needs to be optimized to be rendered correctly on the anniversary model.

Since it’s fully committed to delivering the best experience to customers (but also to iOS itself), Microsoft didn’t want to wait any longer and today released an update for its OneDrive app that includes support for the all-new iPhone X.

Now at version 9.6.2, the OneDrive for iOS app even supports Face ID, allowing users to protect their accounts with the new facial recognition system available on the iPhone X. Previously, OneDrive featured Touch ID support, locking accounts with fingerprint protection, but since the iPhone X only supports facial recognition, OneDrive is getting this new feature as well.

The iPhone X support includes optimizations for the notch at the top of the screen, which requires special updates to meet the aspect ratio and correctly show all UI components on the left and the right of the notch. OneDrive for iOS is now expected to meet all the requirements and be fully optimized for the new iPhone X.

At the same time, this new version also introduces several fixes for Microsoft Intune customers, as well as a fix for a crash happening when using the “Copy to OneDrive” feature.

OneDrive is probably just the first of Microsoft’s apps getting support for the iPhone X, and it shouldn’t take too long before updates for other apps are being released too. One of the most anticipated, however, is aimed at Microsoft Edge browser, as browsing the web on the iPhone X should be quite an experience given its display.

Also, Microsoft is working at full speed on getting Edge browser ready for iOS and Android, and further updates in this regard specifically aimed at the iPhone X are likely to be announced soon.
