14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft Launcher for Android is growing at an incredible pace, becoming one of the most popular apps of its kind in the Google Play Store, despite this being quite a crowded software category.
Microsoft UX designer Joshua Bradley revealed on Twitter that Microsoft Launcher adoption has been amazing since the official launch of the app and is now at 1 million active users. Bradley has since removed his tweet and it’s not clear why, but it’s believed that an official announcement in this regard could be on its way from Microsoft itself.
But as OnMSFT also noted, the tweet also revealed that Microsoft Launcher was the number one trending in the Google Play Store the past week, which is quite an achievement for a Microsoft app given the criticism the company has received for focusing so much on non-Windows platforms.
Formerly known as Arrow Launcher
Rebranded from Arrow Launcher to Microsoft Launcher, the app has been quite successful in the Google Play store, with official stats pointing to a number of installs that’s between 5 million and 10 million. There are currently more than 326,000 ratings given to the app and the overall rating is 4.6 stars out of a maximum of 5.
With Microsoft Launcher, the tech giant tries to provide Android users with an easy way to bring their smartphones in sync with Windows 10 devices, offering a few sync features that could boost productivity, as the company itself says in the description of the app.
“With Microsoft Launcher (formerly known as Arrow Launcher), you can personalize your Android device to match your style with wallpapers, theme colors, icon packs and more. With a Microsoft account or work/school account, you can access your calendar, documents, and recent activities in your personalized feed. You can even open photos, docs and webpages on your Windows PC to be productive across all your devices,” Microsoft explains.
