14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop in a press conference on May 2, and although this was the big star of the show, it appears the company had much more to show.
The Surface Arc Mouse is one of the accessories that didn’t get any official announcement during the press conference, but which is actually one of the important product refreshes aimed at customers who want to use the full Microsoft gear.
The Surface Arc Mouse is an evolved version of the Arc Mouse and doesn’t have a scroll wheel, but a full strip that plays the role of a touch pad, letting you perform both left and right clicks and scroll in the most natural way by simply moving your finger on the smooth surface.
Microsoft says the Surface Arc Mouse is “the travel companion for your Surface,” and it offers it in three different colors to match the recently-launched Surface, namely burgundy, light gray, and cobalt blue.
Batteries can last for up to 9 months
The mouse connects to your device via Bluetooth 4.0 and works on 2.4 GHz frequency range. It works with Windows 8, 8.1, and Windows 10 and uses 2 AAA batteries that should last for up to 9 months.
Of course, it’s quite easy to carry it around, as it tips the scales at just 2.91 ounces (82.49 grams) when batteries are connected, and it measures only 5.17” x 2.17” x 0.56” (131 mm x 55 mm x 14 mm).
“Simply snap into the curved position to power up. Snap again to flatten and power down. Scroll vertically and horizontally. Surface Arc Mouse supports your palm to sit comfortably in your hand,” Microsoft says in a very short description of the mouse on the official page.
You can already pre-order the Surface Arc Mouse from the Microsoft Store in the United States, and expect it to become available worldwide in the coming months.
