14 DAY TRIAL // Continuum is one of the key features of Windows 10 Mobile, and it’s no surprise that Microsoft’s using it for its marketing materials created to help promote the new operating system and its devices.
And a new video released today on YouTube shows how Windows 10 Mobile phones, such as the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, can be used to work on a Windows PC with minimum effort, again with the help of Continuum.
The trick comes down to Remote Desktop, an app available on Windows 10 Mobile devices that lets you remotely work on Windows computers. So what you have to do is transform your phone into a PC with Continuum and then use the Remote Desktop app on your handset to connect to the stand-alone desktop computer and thus work like a pro wherever you are.

Certainly, this trick opens the door for even more opportunities, so if previously you were limited by Continuum to universal apps available in the store, you can now use full Win32 apps without a problem. Of course, a desktop computer running Windows is necessary, but this is a very neat way to get around Continuum’s limitations and enjoy the full power of Windows for PC.
The universal Remote Desktop app is currently available as a preview in the store, but it works quite flawlessly, so it should be released in stable form in the near future.
“The Microsoft Remote Desktop Preview app is a designed to help you get your work done wherever you are. You can connect to remote Windows PCs or resources made available to you by your admin and be productive as if these resources were running locally,” the app description reads.
Obviously, it’s completely free of charge, and because it’s a universal app, it’ll work on both smartphones and PCs when it becomes available as a stable version.
