All services unavailable for approximately one hour

Microsoft experienced another major outage a few hours ago, with services like Outlook, Skype, OneDrive, Xbox Live, and the Windows Store going down for more than 60 minutes due to an unknown issue.

The Microsoft Account services made it impossible for users to log in with their usernames and passwords, leading to other issues on Windows devices, including phones, PCs, and Xbox consoles. Microsoft did not explain what happened this time, but the company has already managed to address the problem and bring all services back online.

In a statement on the Xbox Live service status page, the company confirmed the outage and provided a generic comment that promised a fix as fast as possible.

“Our engineers and developers are actively continuing to work to resolve the issue causing some members to have problems finding previously-purchased content or purchasing new content. Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience,” the firm said.

Second outage of the month

The first outage was experienced on March 7, when Microsoft’s services also went down and remained unavailable for more than an hour.  The company has never discussed the outage to explain what went wrong, but with more downtime experienced this week, Microsoft might not have any other option than to share more details on the outages.

Previously, the software giant decided to stick with vague statements that acknowledged the problems, but without providing too many specifics on what exactly happened that its servers were knocked offline.

“We are aware that some members may be having problems signing in to Xbox Live. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we will be sure to provide you with frequent updates,” Microsoft said in early March when the first outage occurred.

The company is yet to detail this week’s issues, so we’ve reached out to Microsoft to ask for more information, though we expect the firm to spill the beans in a blog post sometime soon.
