Microsoft is hopeful it will be able to deliver

Earlier today, we brought you some disappointing news: by virtue of an update made to the Lumia storage space page, Microsoft all but confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile requires approximately 5GB of available memory.

Hence, it’s pretty clear that until some super advanced compression method is found, 4GB devices won’t be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft also says that devices with 8GB of storage space will only have 3GB available after installing Windows 10 Mobile, while those with 16GB can only use about 10GB after the upgrade.

The Redmond tech giant previously stated they were working hard to make Windows 10 available for other Lumia devices, but as you can see, some of them might end up being left out after all. Still, there’s great hope most of them will be included.

Microsoft brings hope for Lumia Denim-powered devices

WMPU asked Microsoft to provide an official statement on the issue and their reply included an interesting detail. Redmond said that it had “ambitions to bring Windows 10 to all Lumia devices running Lumia Denim software.”

Nonetheless, some features will vary depending on the model and hardware specifications. Microsoft doesn’t give any guarantees here, but at least it allows us to cling on to hope.

Users of Windows Phones that are not included in the first wave of devices expected to get the Windows 10 Mobile update (Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 635 (1GB), 640, 640 XL, 735, 830 and 930) might be tempted to try out some of the Windows Insider RTM builds, but given the fact that they have not been tested on those particular handsets, the overall results might not be satisfactory.

Some of the Lumia Denim models include the Lumia 520, 620, 625, 720, 930 and 1320. So if you are the owner of one of these models, you’d better sit on tight and hope that Microsoft will end up delivering the update into your hands (and to your phone).
