14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 14352 for PCs this week, but the company decided to hold back the mobile version, despite the fact that the latest releases came together almost every time.
In a post published today, Microsoft reveals that there’s a bug impacting the ring selection option for insiders on Windows 10 Mobile devices, pointing out that no other builds would arrive until this is fixed.
Basically, users running Windows 10 Mobile build 14342.1004 who go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program will see a “disabled” tag next to the option that reads “Choose your Insider level,” so changing settings is pretty much impossible. The company says that it’s fully aware of the problem and currently working on it, adding that it’s all happening on its servers, and zero user interaction is required.
Next build coming on Tuesday the earliest
Microsoft adds that while it is working on this bug, no new builds would be released until all devices get the patch. And given the fact that it’s already weekend, expect a new build to land next week, most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday.
“A fix is expected within the next few days, so no new builds over the weekend. This isn't surprising, right? I can count on zero fingers how many Saturday or Sunday builds we've released to Insiders. And... we have Monday off as well,” the post reads.
Users won’t have to move a single finger when the patch is released, and everyone will be returned to the original ring when things go back to normal.
In the meantime, we’re seeing reports that the bug is happening on other versions of Windows 10 Mobile too, including .1001 and .1003. Additionally, some claim to have found a workaround that involves uninstalling the Windows Insider app and then getting it back from the Store. The ring selection option should then work normally.
