Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 is selling like hotcakes these days, and the company’s having a really hard time keeping up with demand in the United Kingdom, according to a Redmond representative.

In fact, the Surface is selling so fast in the country that Microsoft simply can’t keep up with demand, as customers want more devices than the company can produce.

Surface is experiencing strong sales especially in the business sector where firms see the device as the right replacement for the traditional tablet, in many cases an iPad, but also for the laptop. The Surface can offer the best of both worlds, as it can turn from a tablet to laptop with the help of a detachable keyboard.

The Surface Pro 4 is the best-selling model

“While we are not happy that we can meet all demand today, we are really excited about the customer interest and demand that this demonstrates. On the Surface Pro 4s, I think one of the things this shows is the customer excitement in the fact we are having trouble producing them fast enough to meet customer demand,” Ryan Asdourian, Windows and Surface Business Group lead at Microsoft, was quoted as saying by ChannelWeb.

“Our goal is to make sure everyone who wants a Surface Pro 4 is able to get one, so we are working hard to expedite and produce those machines as fast as possible and as soon as we do that we will make sure we are getting them out to our resellers and distributors.”

And indeed, the Surface lineup has completely transformed since its inception in 2012, turning from a device that forced the company to resort to a write-down in order to adjust unsold inventories to one that has a hard time to keep up with demand.

In the latest fiscal quarter, Microsoft reported revenues of $1.3 billion (€1 billion) for Surface, and figures show that this unit is on the rise.
