Redmond is hosting several launch events across the world

Microsoft has already confirmed that on July 29 Windows 10 will go on sale with launch parties in 13 cities across the world, instead of hosting just a single event in the United States, thus giving fans from all over the world a chance to attend the debut of the OS in person.

But it turns out that all these fan launches will not be available for anyone who wants to attend, as Microsoft will demand an invite of those who want to see the unveiling of Windows 10 live.

In a statement for WindowsCentral, Microsoft has confirmed that an invite will be required to attend these events, which kind of raises a number of questions regarding how exactly fans would be invited to the party and how many people would actually get to attend. Microsoft is yet to provide answers to any of these questions.

“You won't see fancy launch spectacles from Windows - our broader aspiration is to celebrate and empower those who upgrade the world every day. Our events are designed to celebrate our fans. They will offer hands-on opportunities, experiential demo's, entertainment and opportunities to meet the Windows team. These events will be invite-only, designed for our fans in each market,” Microsoft has said in the statement (emphasis is ours).

Invites for insiders?

One possible option for Microsoft would be to invite insiders to attend these launch parties, as they are pretty much the biggest fans of the new operating system and they helped the company develop it since the beginning of the program in October 2014.

The launch events will take place in 13 cities across the world, namely Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, New Delhi, Dubai, Nairobi, Berlin, Johannesburg, Madrid, London, São Paulo, and New York City.

We’ve reached out to the company to ask for more information on how exactly it plans to distribute these invites and will update the article when we get an answer.
