“Surface Pro 4 outnumbers Surface Book almost 9-to-1”

The Surface Book is probably the most exciting device that Microsoft has launched to date, and it’s easy to see why just by looking at the spec sheet.

Also the first laptop in Microsoft’s history, the Surface Book has sold quite well since its unveiling in October 2015, but it’s obviously not the top Surface model currently on the market in terms of usage. And new statistics provided by AdDuplex offer us a closer look at rankings.

Right now, the top Surface device running Windows 10 is the Surface Pro 3, with a share of 33.3 percent. Surprisingly, the SP3 hasn’t even launched with Windows 10 pre-installed, so it’s kind of unexpected to see it in the first place. On the other hand, it’s living proof that Microsoft has made a terrific job of upgrading devices to Windows 10.

Surface Pro 4, the second Windows 10-powered Surface

The Surface Pro 4 is the runner-up with 30.9 percent, and this also shows that, although they launched at the same time on October 6, 2015, the SP4 and the Surface Book can’t even compare in terms of sales.

The laptop has a share of just 3.6 percent, and as AdDuplex notes, “the Surface Pro 4 outnumbers Surface Book almost 9-to-1.” But this was certainly something to be expected for several reasons.

First of all, it’s the more limited availability of the Surface Book, as the laptop isn’t yet available in all countries around the world, so not everyone can buy one. Then, it’s the price of the device, as the top Surface Book costs nearly $3,200 with 1TB of storage space and a dedicated graphics card.

As far as Windows 10 desktop PC manufacturers are concerned, things are not really surprising here. HP leads the charge with 22.51 percent, followed by Dell with 12.42 percent, and Lenovo with 11.05 percent. Microsoft has only 3.03 percent, more than Samsung and Sony, which have 2.24 and 1.56 percent, respectively.
