New FCC photos reveal the design of the keyboard

Microsoft’s upcoming all-in-one Surface PC is expected to come with a brand new Surface keyboard whose design has already been teased, but now thanks to photos posted by the FCC, we can finally get a closer look at the new accessory.

And just like we said when we first got to see the teaser, the Surface keyboard looks a lot like it’s copied from Apple, even though we have to admit that there aren’t really too many ways to make a keyboard look different from the other.

And yet, the resemblances between the Surface keyboard and the one that Apple ships with the iMac are more than obvious, especially because Microsoft is reportedly planning to offer it in gray metal, just like Apple. The difference is that Microsoft apparently wants to make the keys a darker share of gray, while Apple’s are white, but the overall design is still super similar.

Other keyboard specs

According to reports, the Surface keyboard could launch as soon as this week, with Microsoft planning to describe it in detail at an event in New York later this month, when it’ll also introduce the Surface all-in-one PC. The PC is likely to come with the keyboard included, as well as with a new Surface mouse that could see daylight very soon too.

The keyboard will work with two AA batteries, and Microsoft says that it comes with an autonomy of 12 months, which is impressive to say the least. Thanks to Bluetooth support, the keyboard will work with pretty much any device, including not only Windows but also Macs and even Android and iOS.

Microsoft is yet to confirm the Surface event for this month, but the company is expected to hold a conference together with partners, rather than on its own, as it happened in the past years. As a result, new devices like the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 are now expected in spring next year.
