We’ve known for a while that Microsoft is planning a slimmer Xbox One, and everyone has been expecting to see the device making its public debut at E3 this month, but thanks to leaked photos, we can have a quick look at it even before that.

Called “Xbox One S,” the new game console from Microsoft is said to be 40 percent smaller than the standard Xbox One, and that’s the main reason everyone said it would be slimmer. It’s painted in white and looks absolutely brilliant, but it’s not all about the looks.

NeoGAF user KawabataSan has posted a photo that also provides us with some technical details, including what seems to be 4K resolution support and 2 TB hard drive.

A new controller

We told you only a few hours ago that Microsoft was very likely to announce a 2 TB Xbox One at E3 this year, and it appears that these rumors were indeed true, with the Xbox One S being the version bringing the storage upgrade. At this point, the Xbox One is offered with 512 GB and 1 TB of storage, so the new version is clearly a worthy upgrade.

The 4K resolution is possible thanks to a more powerful graphics processor, but since it’s all just a leak, it’s nearly impossible to guess the specs accurately at this point. What’s interesting, however, is that this new Xbox version also comes with High Dynamic Range, a streamlined controller, plus a vertical stand, so yes, the S model can also stand vertically whereas the original model was designed to be used horizontally.

For the moment, that’s pretty much all we know about the new Xbox One S model, but expect the full unveiling to take place in just a few hours at E3. Microsoft will also introduce some other products, including streaming devices to compete against the likes of Google Chromecast.
