The open beta version should be released this month

Microsoft's personal digital assistant is already available on Windows Phone platform, but it will soon arrive on Android and iOS as well.

Even though the full version of Cortana is only available in a few countries, it's one of the main strong points of Windows Phone operating system. Bringing it to Android and iOS may win some fans if the porting is outstanding.

And from what we've noticed from the beta version that has just been leaked online courtesy to tech blog Techweez, Microsoft did a pretty good job.

We have run Cortana beta on both Samsung Galaxy S5 (Android 5.0 Lollipop) and Galaxy S6 (Android 5.1.1 Lollipop) and everything felt smooth and solid with no hiccups or errors.

We did not find any bug or issues, but then again we've only played with it for a few hours, so there might be some things that Microsoft needs to iron out before releasing it to the public.

Open beta for Android is scheduled for July

The fact that Cortana for Android beta is already in a good stage of development shouldn't be a surprise though since Microsoft is expected to release the open beta of its personal digital assistant sometime in July.

The iOS version will be released later this year though we don't know how stable the beta build is for the moment, but Microsoft is likely to delay it rather than launch a faulty version.

We have taken more than a dozen screenshots from Cortana for Android beta for those of you who want to get a glimpse of what's to come.

Microsoft has a very busy H2 2015 with the launch of Windows 10 on PC, as well as Windows 10 Mobile later this fall.

The Redmond-based also confirmed it would release several new Lumia smartphones in by the end of the year, all powered by the latest version of Windows Phone.
