The Windows 10 Creators Update will undoubtedly represent a key moment for the future of Microsoft’s operating system, so Redmond is working on overhauling not only the essential features but also those little details that are super important for users, and a new one has been spotted today.

It looks like Microsoft is working on giving Windows Defender a modern touch, bringing it in line with all the other Windows 10 apps that have been updated lately.

WinBeta posted a screenshot of what could be the Windows 10 Creators Update version of Windows Defender, although it’s better not to take this for granted right now since we cannot confirm if the photo is real or not.

But if it is, the picture shows that Microsoft is working on giving Windows Defender a look that reminds of universal apps, so the antivirus would finally align with the rest of the operating system. Although the version you see here seems to be featuring a light theme, there’s a big chance that Microsoft is also planning a dark visual style if this design is indeed real.

There’s also a hamburger menu in the top left corner, as well as a cleaner overall look that makes the app a lot easier to use, no matter how tech savvy users are.

Windows Defender is Microsoft’s fully-featured antivirus that comes pre-installed in Windows 8 and Windows 10, and which replaces the previous Microsoft Security Essentials security solution available freely for Windows 7 users.

Windows Defender has also received several feature updates in Windows 10, some of which were implemented in the Anniversary Update, so it makes sense for the upcoming Creators Update to continue this approach and also bring, in addition to new features and improved protection, a new look.

Insiders will certainly be the first to get the new Windows Defender look, so we’ll keep an eye on new Windows 10 builds to see if anything changes.
