Snooze action no longer available in Edge browser

Microsoft introduced a Snooze feature for Edge browser earlier this year, allowing users to set reminders in Cortana for the websites they visit, but the company decided to remove it in the latest insider update.

Snooze was an action available on tabs in Microsoft Edge which made it super-simple for users to quickly set a reminder in Cortana in order to access specific websites at a later time.

The company says that the feedback it received proved that Snooze needed more work before becoming available to everyone, so it decided to hold it back for a while - there are chances, however, to never get Snooze back if development does not advance at a satisfying pace.

“First introduced to Insiders in Build 14926, the experimental ‘Snooze’ action on a tab in Microsoft Edge which provides you with a way to set a Cortana reminder on the website you are viewing is no longer available. Based on data we gathered and feedback we received, we decided to remove it from the product and re-evaluate the feature for a future release,” Microsoft says.

The feature removal took place in Windows 10 build 14971, which is the latest version for insiders enrolled in the Fast Ring.

The Windows 10 Creators Update

Microsoft is continuously looking into ways to improve Edge in Windows 10, and the Creators Update due in early 2017 is quite an important milestone for the company, especially because testing of several features has already started with help from insiders.

The Creators Update is due in March 2017, as people familiar with the matter previously said that it’s likely to launch as version 1703, which as per Microsoft’s naming strategy, means it will arrive in the third month of year 2017.

Obviously, there will be many more improvements coming in the Creators Update, but as you can see, nothing is certain, and it all depends on the feedback received from insiders.
