New build available as part of the fast ring

Microsoft has rolled out a new Windows 10 Redstone build for users participating in the Windows Insider program, this time focused more on bug fixes and less on new features.

The last few builds brought several important new features - and one significant release is the introduction of support for extensions in Microsoft Edge browser - but the company has changed the approach a little bit with build 14295 to work more on the performance and stability of the operating system.

So although it’s specifically released to users who are part of the fast ring, Windows 10 Redstone build 14295 is supposed to correct many of the issues that were experienced before.

What’s very important to know is that this build finally fixes an issue that caused Windows 10 computers to freeze when plugging in an Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller. The company reported this as a known issue in build 14291, but since quite a lot of users experienced the problem, the development team focused a little bit more on a fix, and it’s now ready with this update.

Kaspersky bug finally fixed

At the same time, Redmond has also managed to address a bug that made Kaspersky security software impossible to use in Redstone builds.

Listed as a known issue for the past few builds, this problem blocked users from installing and running antivirus solutions provided by Kaspersky, with Microsoft recommending adopters to choose another application or switch to Windows Defender until a fix was provided.

“We have fixed the driver bug that prevents Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Internet Security, or the Kaspersky Total Security Suite installed from working as expected in builds from the Development Branch,” Microsoft briefly explained when releasing the new build.

Keep in mind that this build is currently available for fast ring users only, and there’s still no word on whether the company has any plans to roll it out for slow ring insiders too anytime soon.
