Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 Redstone 3 build for users in the Fast ring, as the road to the next OS update continues with help from insiders.

Windows 10 build 16188 is exclusively available for PC insiders and comes with several improvements and known issues, so you'd better check out all of them before proceeding to the install.

New features

First and foremost, Microsoft Edge received particular attention in this build, so the browser is getting new PDF reader tools, including form filling and annotations.

Those using Microsoft Edge as a PDF reader also get table of contents for easier navigation, with the new button displayed on the left of the PDF toolbar, but only if the document has the table of contents defined by the author.

Additionally, Microsoft Edge is also being updated with the Windows Defender Application Guard, a feature that the company announced last September and which provides increased protection from malware and zero-day attacks.

The feature is not turned on by default, so you first need to enable it from the Turn Windows features on or off menu (a reboot is required).

Microsoft is also improving the Settings app, so starting with this build you get a new Ninjacat icon for the Windows Insider Program, as well as a dedicated Cortana section in the main page. And last but not least, the update experience is also getting some refinements.

“We’ve heard your feedback, and with Build 16188 we’ve replaced the previous modal Windows Update dialog with a new interactive toast notification so you can easily be aware of an available update without it interrupting your work. Try it out next time you get an update, and as always, please share your feedback!” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, says.

You can check out the full changelog in the box below and head over to Windows Update to download this new build if you’re part of the Fast ring.
