New Redstone 3 build available for users in the Fast ring

Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 build to users in the Fast ring, this time bringing some new features that are projected to be part of the Redstone 3 update due in September.

Windows 10 build 16184 officially introduces My People, a new feature that puts your favorite contacts in the taskbar and lets you quickly get in touch with them, either for chatting or for sharing files.

My People was originally announced for the Creators Update, but Microsoft decided to hold it back until the debut of Redstone 3 as more work needed to be done. With this build, the new feature makes its official debut, and it is expected to receive several refinements by September when Redstone 3 goes live for the production ring.

Additionally, Microsoft is also introducing Gmail improvements in the Mail app, including Focused Inbox, a feature that was previously available on Android and iOS exclusively. These Gmail features were announced earlier this month and are also projected to become available for everyone in the coming months, this time before the debut of the Redstone 3 update.

More fixes and known issues

Just like any other preview build, this new one comes with several other fixes and known issues. One important bug that is yet to be fixed concerns Windows Defender, as the antivirus cannot be launched with a double-click on the System Tray icon, but by right-clicking the icon and hitting open.

For some reason, the very same issue exists on builds in the production rings too, so when a fix is developed, it should be shipped to all PCs, not just those in the Insider program.

You can see all the fixes and known issues in the box after the jump and you can proceed to download the new build via Windows Update if you’re already enrolled in the Fast ring.
