Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 build to insiders in the Fast ring, this time with no new features, as the focus is entirely on fixing bugs and improving performance.

Windows 10 Creators Update is feature-locked, which means that no new features are being added and the Windows team is exclusively focused on refining the OS update before the public launch next month.

As a result, the release notes of Windows 10 build 15048 point to “other changes, improvements, and fixes for PC,” but also to some other known issues that should be addressed before the Creators Update reaches RTM later this month.

Microsoft says that this build fixes one of the most reported issues in preview builds where universal apps appeared in the titlebar not with their names, but with the package name.

“We fixed the issue where some UWP apps may unexpectedly appear with their app package name in the title bar as opposed to the app name. A lot of you sent us screenshots of this in the Feedback Hub and we were able to debug the issue quickly,” Microsoft says.

Important known issue

What’s important to know is that this build includes a known issue that impacts systems where Symantec/Norton anti-virus software is running. Microsoft says that on these computers the build could fail to install with error 0x80070228.

Windows 10 Creators Update is projected to launch in April, but Microsoft is expected to compile the final RTM build as soon as this month. Just as it happened in the past, Windows insiders will be the first to get the final build ahead of everyone else, while retail users will get it shortly after that.

Creators Update could be version 1703, which is a direct hint at the compiling date of the RTM build, with the first two digits representing the year and the other two standing for the month.
