Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 Mobile build for members of the Windows Insider program, but contrary to everyone’s expectations, this doesn’t bring anything new except for a bunch of bug fixes.

Specifically, Windows 10 Mobile build 14342.1004 isn’t an entirely new release, but only an update to the original build 14342, so it’s pretty much the same as the first version minus the aforementioned bug fixes.

In an announcement today, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, says that this new build brings battery improvements and some additional fixes for a number of devices running preview versions of the Redstone update, including Lumia 930 and Lumia 920. Some of these handsets are getting hot on the previous builds, Aul acknowledges, so they need to update to 14342.1004 to correct these issues.

Same features as the original build

Windows 10 Mobile build 14342 brought only three different new features, namely swipe navigation in Microsoft Edge, apps for websites, and Feedback Hub improvements.

There were also plenty of bugs fixes included in this version, and judging from feedback sent by insiders, this was one of the fastest and most stable builds released so far.

A new Windows 10 build for PC and mobile is expected in the coming days too, and Microsoft is likely to release a few more improvements and new features this time. Gabe Aul has already confirmed that there are internal candidates evaluated by the Windows team, and if they pass the publishing criteria, they could be released to insiders anytime soon.

Details are missing for the moment, but if everything goes smoothly, they could go live as soon as this week. Otherwise, the next week will certainly bring new builds.

The Anniversary Update is projected to launch in the summer, most likely in July, with a plethora of improvements on PCs and mobile devices, including Edge extensions, a Start menu and Action Center overhaul, new Cortana capabilities, and more.
