New build for Windows 10 Mobile preview users

Microsoft has just rolled out a new Windows 10 Mobile build for insiders in the fast ring, thus delivering a new set of fixes for devices that are currently running this early version of the operating system.

Before anything, it’s worth mentioning that there are no new features in this release, and just like before, Microsoft has focused exclusively on fixing bugs and improving performance.

As rumored, this new version is Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.107 and it contains three major bug fixes, including a patch resolving a bug “where in some cases a device could be missing tiles on the Start screen after going through the device out of box experience,” as Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.

Additionally, Narrator has received a new update and is now capable of speaking more languages, Microsoft explained. And last but not least, this new build includes improvements to the device reset experience when Bitlocker Device Encryption is enabled either by the enterprise policy or by the user himself.

Still no word on official release

Previously, people close to the matter suggested that Windows 10 Mobile could go live in mid-February, but Microsoft is yet to confirm these rumors and continues to remain tight-lipped on the subject.

Moreover, Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.107 is only available for fast ring users, so it could still take a few days until it gets the green light for the slow track and eventually for all Windows Phone devices.

This new build is shipped as a cumulative update, so download and installation should be faster and easier as compared to the previous delivery system that included full ROMs for all devices. Microsoft could thus be testing a new system for the final version of Windows 10 Mobile in order to offer a smoother update experience to Windows Phone devices once the core operating system is installed.
