New update shipped to systems running the Anniversary Update

Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10, this time exclusive to devices running the Anniversary Update, also known as version 1607.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4025334 bumps OS version number to 14393.1532 and comes with a long changelog, and you can check it in full in the box after the jump.

There are several highlights, though, and one of them concerns issues that were experienced after installing previous cumulative updates. It’s a well-known thing that some older cumulative updates caused a number of problems on Windows 10 computers, and it has become quite common for new releases to first and foremost address the issues introduced by its predecessors.

Fixes for issues caused by previous cumulative updates

In the case of KB4025334, it fixes bugs introduced by the cumulative updates released between April and July, with Microsoft explaining the following:

“Addressed issue with a port and thread leak that can cause a broad array of symptoms including unresponsive systems and iSCSI target connection failures. This occurs after installing monthly updates released between April 11, 2017 (KB4015217) through July 11, 2017 (KB4025339). This issue was called out as known issue in the corresponding release notes for these updates.”

Most of the bug fixes that are included in this cumulative update are made under the hood, so consumers might not necessarily spot them at first glance, but Microsoft has clearly tried to address the most common problems and issues reported in the last few weeks.

What’s important to know is that only the Anniversary Update has received a cumulative update this time, and systems running the Creators Update (version 1703) are still on the July 11 update that was shipped on Patch Tuesday.

A reboot is required to complete the installation of the new cumulative update, and at the time of publishing this article we’re not aware of any issues experienced by users who installed it. The update also installed fine on our testing systems here at Softpedia.
