Microsoft has recently released another cumulative update for Windows 10 Anniversary Update (Version 1607), as the company is once again trying to fix some of the bugs caused by a Patch Tuesday update.

The new cumulative update is KB4016635, and it bumps Windows 10 version to 14393.970, with Microsoft shipping it to Windows 10 Version 1607 and Windows Server 2016.

There are just two fixes included in this cumulative update and both of them are aimed at addressing bugs that were introduced by KB4013429, the original cumulative update that the company rolled out on Patch Tuesday this month.

KB4013429 has until now proved to be quite a fiasco, as it did more harm than good on Windows 10 computers, and now Microsoft is working on fixing all these bugs with other cumulative updates.

Just two bug fixes

KB4016635 itself addresses a known issue caused by KB4013429 and which led to form display issues with CRM 2011 on Internet Explorer 11. Additionally, Microsoft says that this new cumulative update is also pushing a workaround for the bug preventing users from updating apps from Windows Store and causing error 0x80070216, once again due to the botched KB4013429.

At this point, there are no known issues and Microsoft says that all you get are “quality improvements,” with no new features included, as is the case of every single cumulative update.

Just like before, you can get this new cumulative update via Windows Update and a system reboot is required to complete the install. We’re not aware of any installation issues for the time being, but as it happened before, it remains to be seen if the process goes smoothly for everyone or not.

Previous cumulative updates caused a series of issues on Windows 10 computers, from installation problems to bugs that crashed apps, broke down network connectivity, or even slowed down the system for no clear reason. Creating a system restore point before installing this CU might thus be a good idea.
