New update available for Windows 10 1511 users

Microsoft rolled out a new preview build of Windows 10 Redstone today for members of the Windows Insider program, but those still on the stable version have also received some goodies too.

The company released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 1511 (November Update), but just like before, the company hasn’t provided any information on what exactly is included in this update.

Most likely, Redmond will indeed publish a KB page (it’s not available at the time of writing this article), but don’t expect too many details to be provided beside the usual “performance improvements and bug fixes” statement.

On the good side, cumulative updates include all the previously-released fixes, so if you install this one, you bring your computer fully up-to-date and no other patch would be needed. Sure, it would be great to know what exactly is included in this update, but Microsoft doesn’t seem to change its mind over this highly-criticized approach.

Change logs for enterprise users

Despite the huge number of users asking for update information, Microsoft still keeps release details secret for the moment, which does nothing more than increase frustration in the Windows community.

Previously, Windows boss Terry Myerson said that change logs could be provided for enterprise users because IT admins need more information on what they install, but the very same thing can be said about consumers too, so holding them back in their case doesn’t make much sense.

For the moment, little can be changed about the information that comes with these updates, but you’re recommended to install them anyway, especially because they bring so many bug fixes and performance improvements.

KB3124262 updates Windows 10 version number to 10586.71, but right now, no other details as to what could also be changed are available. We’ll update the article as more information emerges.
