14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 preview build for Windows insiders enrolled in the fast ring, giving them the chance to try out a few more features that are supposed to be part of the final version due in early 2017.
Windows 10 build 14965, which is a preview of the Creators Update, comes with a virtual touchpad that makes it possible for users to move content on a second display from a tablet without the need for a mouse. All you have to do is connect to another monitor, PC, or TV, and in Action Center tap the Project quick action to use it. There’s a new “Show touchpad button” option that enables this feature.
The Sticky Notes app has also been updated to version 1.2.9.0 and it comes with plenty of new features, including support for Insights to many more languages and regions, including Germany, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Portuguese.
The app has also received plenty of bug fixes, and Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, says that all improvements are based on user feedback, with other new features currently in the pipeline also thanks to suggestions submitted by insiders.
Windows Ink improvements
Windows Ink also received a number of improvements, including new settings that include a link to the handwriting tool.
The address bar in Registry Editor has been revamped with support for CTRL + L to get focus, as well as with shorthand notation for HKEY names (instead of typing out the full HKEY name).
And last but not least, the Hyper-V VM experience has been improved with bugfixes, including for “an issue where depending on the zoom level selected, the VM window might not be created large enough to avoid scrollbars.”
Just like it’s the case with the majority of preview builds, there are also known issues and other improvements, and you can check them out in full in the box below. This build is only available in the fast ring for the time being, but depending on feedback, Microsoft could ship it to other users as well.
