This build also removes the watermark from the desktop

Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 17128 for insiders in the Fast ring, and one of the first changes to notice is the removal of the desktop watermark.

While this typically happens when the RTM build of a new Windows 10 version is ready, Microsoft says this isn’t the case right now, as they’re still working on finalizing the Redstone 4 update.

“We’re just now beginning the phase of checking in final code to prepare for the final release. The only difference between this build and Build 17127 from Tuesday is the removal of the watermark. However, we’ve got more fixes being checked in for the next flight,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, said.

Cortana Show Me

The big news in this build is the introduction of Cortana Show Me, a new feature that would assist users as they set up certain functionality of their systems.

Cortana Show Me is available from the Microsoft Store and offers instructions on specific settings, like updating Windows, uninstalling apps, using airplane mode, turning off Windows Defender, running a security scan, and checking the Windows version.

This feature is currently available in English and in German and bundles 15 different settings, but Microsoft says that further improvements should be announced soon.

“In our preview app, Cortana will show you how to change settings step-by-step. In this release, you can launch guides directly from the app homepage, but check back soon for voice entry points,” Microsoft says.

The software giant explains that a new build with more fixes is on its way and could be released early next week as we’re getting closer to the final RTM build. New ISOs for Windows 10 build 17127, which is now available for insiders in the Slow ring as well, would be pushed next week as well, to allow for a clean-install on systems running preview builds.
