Microsoft is very close to finalizing Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, and the company has just shipped a new build that’s believed to be either the RTM or at least a potential candidate for the new OS update.

Windows 10 build 16299.15 doesn’t bring anything new in terms of features as most of the changes have been made under the hood in order to get refined experience and fix undisclosed bugs.

Currently available for the Fast ring exclusively, this new build is similar to the original build 16299 that was released approximately one week ago, but just like usual, users participating in the Windows Insider program are recommended to give it a try and send feedback to the company should anything be worth reporting.

No watermark on the desktop

Microsoft says that it’s currently testing servicing this build via Windows Update, which is a sign not only that RTM is just around the corner, but that this build itself could be the RTM.

“We have released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16299.15 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. As we prepare to release the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to the world on October 17th, we will now start testing out servicing this build with the Cumulative Updates via Windows Update,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is projected to launch on October 17, so Microsoft is currently working on refining experience and addressing the last bugs that users report in preview builds.

As far as the RTM build is concerned, Dona Sarkar has promised to let everyone know when it’s being shipped to insiders, so without an official announcement in this regard, build 16299.15 is just a candidate. One thing is sure though: it’s now just a matter of days until the Fall Creators Update lands, and without a watermark on the desktop, it’s very clear that the RTM is almost here.
