Microsoft is now giving the final touches to Windows 10, and just as it promised, bug fixes and performance improvements are being shipped ahead of the big launch in July 2015.

Today, the company has pushed a new round of updates for Windows 10 apps, so make sure you launch the store and get these new versions as soon as possible if you’re already on build 10240.

Basically, all Windows 10 apps pre-installed by Microsoft have gotten an update today, but there are no release notes, which could be a sign that the company has only focused on bug fixing and performance improvements ahead of the final launch of the operating system.

The whole Office Mobile pack, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as OneNote, Windows Calculator, Mail and Calendar, and Get Office receive these updates today, and all seem to bring fixes and optimizations, just as Microsoft promised last week.

“Besides builds, over the next 2 weeks you’ll also see some Windows Updates and app updates in the Store, so make sure to keep checking for updates daily to make sure you’re running the latest and greatest code,” Microsoft said when releasing the new build 10240 to insiders.

More updates expected

With Microsoft now working at full speed to get Windows 10 ready in time for the July 29 launch, more such updates and optimizations are expected in the coming days, especially because the new operating system is always work in progress, as the company itself has explained.

Windows 10 moves to Windows as a Service, which means that Redmond will release updates and improvements when they are ready and will no longer wait a longer period of time before making them available for users worldwide.

For example, Windows 10 is projected to get the very first update soon after launch, with Microsoft preparing several improvements, including the arrival of Edge extensions and other features.
