Microsoft has just rolled out another update for the Surface Pro 3, its flagship tablet that’s still on the market right now but that could soon be replaced with an upgraded model called the Pro 4.

The September 2015 firmware update for the Surface Pro 3 doesn’t bring too many improvements, but it’s still a worthy install because, according to the official release notes, it comes with USB 3.0 card reader driver update to version   10.0.10240.31217, which should “improve the system power usage when an SD card is inserted.”

Other than that, the new firmware update most likely brings performance improvements and bug fixes, which should have a somewhat slight impact on how your tablet works.

The Surface Pro 4

Despite the imminent arrival of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, the Surface Pro 3 will continue to be available, at least until the software giant clears up inventories and gets rid of all units.

Discounts are already available all over the world, so this is the best time to get a Surface Pro 3, obviously, if you want to do that, given the fact that an upgraded model is just around the corner.

There are only vague details about the Surface Pro 4 for the time being, but it’s believed that the device would come in two different sizes, with a 12-inch or a 14-inch screen, with the latter being specifically created to tackle the laptop sector.

Both devices will come with Intel Skylake line of processors and will run Windows 10, with the usual accessories, such as a keyboard and a digital pen, to continue to be offered.

Pricing for the Pro 4 will be in the premium side, so expect the top configuration to cost at more than 2,000 dollars. More information will be unveiled next month on October 6, during Microsoft’s hardware event.
