Microsoft has just released a major update for Edge browser on iPhone, this time with many more improvements as compared to the previous versions.

Microsoft Edge 41.10 (updated from 41.9) includes 3D Touch support for pop and peek, and this certainly comes in handy for owners of the latest iPhone models. 3D Touch is available on the iPhone 6s and newer, and also offered as part of the majority of other browsers for iOS, including the default Safari and Google Chrome.

The new version of Microsoft Edge also comes with an option to search for text in the page – “Find in page” – which is available in the three-dot “…” menu in the browser. Additionally, the browser has been tweaked to open new tabs in the background when you long press on a link, and from my personal experience, I can tell this is truly a great feature especially when reading news online.

This feature allows you to continue reading a specific article, but open a related link for further information without leaving the page.

Microsoft has also introduced options to choose the content region for the news feed that’s displayed on the New Tab page. You can configure this from Settings > New Tab page.

And last but not least, the new version of Edge also includes options to share links to Edge from other apps via the share option, as well as interoperability features with Microsoft Outlook to open links in the browser.

Microsoft says its iPhone browser is now “blazing fast” when it loads for the first time, though at first glance you might not notice any big difference, especially on the latest iPhone models.

The software giant also confirms that an iPad version of Edge browser is currently in the works, but the company can’t provide any specifics as to when this new app could be released for download.
